En este nuevo post vengo a hablaros del estilo de mis ilustraciones. Éste está directamente relacionado con la inspiración.
Algunas personas ya conocen la muñeca
Blythe , otras no, por lo que en esta nueva entrada os vengo a contar algo de ella para que entendáis el por qué de mis ilustraciones de muñecas cabezonas de ojos enormes.
Blythe nace en América, en 1972,de manos de Allison Katzman y gracias a la compañía de juguetes Kenner. Su imagen puede llevar a pensar que está inspirada en el movimiento artístico "Big Eyes" (Ojos Grandes), cuya máxima exponente es
Margaret Keane .
Fue una muñeca adelantada a su tiempo debido a lo bizarro de su imagen y mecanismo por el que puedes cambiar de mirada (izquierda, derecho y centro) y color de ojos (normalmente azul y verde a los lados, naranja y rosa al frente).
1972 también es el año de su retiro a la oscuridad ya que no tuvo ningún éxito.
Tiempo después, a finales de los 90,
Gina Garan, productora audiovisual y fotógrafa neoyorkina, recibe una de estas muñecas como regalo y la toma como modelo, publicando en el año 2000 su primer libro, cuya protagonista brilla con luz propia, Blythe (
This is Blythe ). A partir de entonces, Blythe se convierte en todo un fenómeno en la red, creando una subcultura que mueve millones, tanto en dólares como en creatividad.
Una vez introducida un poco, os dejo con un pequeño collage en el que podéis ver no sólo a la muñeca, sino algunas de mis ilustraciones inspiradas en ella.

In this new post I come to speak about the style of my artwork. This is directly related to inspiration.
Some people already know Blythe doll, others not, so I will tell you some of it for you to understand why do I draw bigheaded, bigeyed dolls.
Blythe was born in America in 1972, designed by Allison Katzman and produced by the toy company Kenner. Its image might suggest that is inspired by the artistic movement "Big Eyes", whose maximum exponent is Margaret Keane.
It was a doll ahead of its time due its bizarre image and mechanism by which you can change look (left, right and center) and eye color (typically blue and green on the sides, orange and pink on the front).
1972 is also the year of its retirement to the darkness due its lack of success.
Later, in the late 90s, Gina Garan, audiovisual producer and photographer, Newyorker, received one of these dolls as a gift and used it as her model, publishing in 2000 her first book in wich Blythe was the shining protagonist (This is Blythe). This way, Blythe becomes a phenomenon in internet, creating a subculture that moves millions, both in dollars and in creativity.
After introducing this doll a bit, I share with you a collage in which you can see not only Blythe, but some of my artwork inspired in this doll .
